Our grading script automatically detects weekly HackerRank submissions through the student’s email address registered in our system (the default is the email address they used during the application process). Most common reason for this problem is the fact that the student used a different email address. So we look for the students registered email address through Airtable and ask them if that is what they have used. If they have used a different email address, we will ask them the following questions:
What is the email address they have used? (this is for the coordinator to locate their HR submission properly and for remapping in case they will use it in the future)
Will they continue to use the new email address for future HR Assessments or will they use the current and registered one?
If they will be using the current email address, then we inform them that the ‘X’ mark will remain in their course portal but we assure them as well that we have accurately recorded their assessment in our records and remind them to make sure to use the registered email address for this kind of problem to not occur again.
If they will be using the new email address, we tell them that we will do the remap on their behalf and remind them to make sure to use the new email address or else, the same problem will occur again. For the first 2 weeks of the class, we ask them to fill-up the remapping form.
There are some cases where a student just submitted their HackerRank and then checks the course portal right away and will see an ‘X’ mark. We have to remind them that our grading script automatically checks and refreshes every hour therefore, their submission might be reflected in our course portal an hour after their submission.
